Mustard Runs Geelong
The Mustard crew ventured out into the community to help with Run Geelong, an event that raises funds for the development of the Maternity Day Assessment Unit at Barwon Health’s University Hospital.
We took a team of six dedicated water distribution technicians and seven running machines to mix it up with Geelong’s finest.
Our water boys and girls were trusted with the crucial last pit stop for the 6km and 12 km runners – water station 20.
Over the course of the day the gang served up the finest refreshments that the hose in someone’s front yard could offer.
We offered words of encouragement and sweet h20 to nearly 12,000 extremely thirsty and appreciative runners.
Some of us even went above and beyond the call of duty directing traffic.
As for the runners, it’s safe to say we have some undercover athletes hidden at Mustard HQ. In a field that included the likes of Joel Selwood, Andrew Mackie and the rig that is Bill Brownless, our team more than held their own.
Nicola notched out a top 10 finish taking out 8th in her category with a time of 26:14.
Champ was the best of our lads, finishing 12th in the 18-30 males category with a time of 24:38 (he may or may not have lost to a teenage boy or two though).
Our other runners included:
Stephen in 25th, Damo in 39th and Aimee in 158th.
The day wrapped up with a well-earned victory brunch.
